Leeds Rotaract reflect on success during International Rotaract Week in March 2023

Thank you to Penelope Milner for sharing:

At Leeds Rotaract Club, we are continuing to make a positive impact across Leeds! Our litter picking project is now picking up momentum as we have recently announced an international partnership with other Rotaract Clubs who are starting their own litter picks. These Clubs include the Clubs of Kolhapur, Dillibazar-KTM, and Gravataí. The Club has also created a campaign called Clean the Street which aims to work with students in Halls of Residence at the University of Leeds to keep their local community looking lovely and litter free!

The Feed Leeds project has many volunteers, and members feel that they are making a real difference by helping to give out food and donations on Friday evenings. Roundhay Rotary Club kindly gave us some donations which were all distributed to rough sleepers in Leeds. Thank you so much! If any other Rotary Clubs would like to support the Feed Leeds project, please see the poster attached.

Our final project is our International Service project. Currently, we are doing a blood drive with District 3291, and we are hoping to arrange a Cultural Exchange online event too.

"At present, District 3291 comprises of 12 revenue Districts of West Bengal, viz. Kolkata, North 24 Parganas, South 24 Parganas, Howrah, Hooghly, Purba Medinipur, Paschim Medinipur, Jhargram, Bankura, Purulia, Nadia, Murshidabad and the Union Territory of Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

District 3291 is carrying forward with its legacy to uphold the motto of Service Above Self in the fields of Health, Education, Peace, Community Development, Women's Empowerment and Poverty Alleviation, thus laying the foundation for the 21st Century goal of Global Peace &Prosperity through harmonious and composite development and moving forward towards “Rotary India Vision 2025” Sourced from D3291 website 28 March 2023 https://www.dge3291.org/aboutus.html

Recently, we also arranged a donation collection and vigil to support those affected in Turkey and Syria by the earthquakes with the Turkic Society at the University of Leeds, and we volunteered at one of the Technology Tournaments in Leeds with Rotary. We will be having a Rotaract Charter Celebration Event in May! It would be lovely to see you all there, and there will be some communications being released about this soon!
