On Saturday 26 March 2022 Judy Hazlehurst hosted The Rotary Club of Keighley’s annual Young Musician Competition in Keighley Shared Church. In Jan 2021 the Rotary Club of Keighley held the competition virtually and last Saturday was the first time in two years that the competition was held in person and it was a joy to hear the young musicians play and sing again.
There were 22 entrants in 3 categories Age 12 and under, Ages 13,14 & 15 and Ages 16,17 & 18
The Judges were Jess Mahler and Emily Overend.
Each performer received a certificate from the Mayor of Keighley, Councillor Julie Adams. Councillor Adams said she “was very impressed by the Young Musicians and that she thoroughly enjoyed the delightful afternoon of music.”
Prizes were presented by Rotary District Representative, David Phillips.

It was a beautiful afternoon of music in the lovely setting of Keighley Shared Church. We are delighted to host this Competition annually to give an opportunity for our local Young Musicians to have a platform to show their talents.”
Judge Emily Overend “I was very impressed with the standard of performers today and they made our job quite difficult. In the older Age Category I understand that the both the Winner Grace Hey and Runner up Briony Moffat are planning to pursue a career in Musical Theatre and I wish them both every success in their future careers”
