Ilkley Rotary clubs supporting the Nell Bank Charity who bring outdoor day and residential education to many city children with limited access to the countryside

On a pleasant autumnal Friday evening, Rotary Clubs from across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire gathered at the Nell Bank Outdoor Education Centre in Ilkley to recognise their contributions to the region’s schools and children. The evening was organised by the Nell Bank Charity, assisted by the two Rotary Clubs from Ilkley, in recognition of what the facility offers the region, and to inform Rotary Clubs from across Yorkshire what is on offer for their children.

The Nell Bank Charitable Trust is an independent charity that Rotary are keen to continue to support in their work bringing outdoor education to children throughout the region.

Nell Bank offers Day and Residential experiences for children from across the region, many of whom visit from deprived and inner city schools, with limited access to the countryside. All visits are linked to the National Curriculum, supporting both subject-specific outcomes, the children’s personal development, and their physical and mental wellbeing.

Richard Bourdon, Chair of the Nell Bank Charitable Trust said “It was an absolute pleasure to welcome the Rotary Clubs to the Centre.  The genuine interest and enthusiasm for the work we do with children and young people was fantastic.  Rotary have a long history of supporting the Centre, and we are excited to continue working with them over the coming months and years.”
