Barton-Upon-Humber Rotary demonstrate partnership working over Christmas 2021

Pandemic rules allowed to let Santa tour some of the streets and villages around Barton-Upon Humber.  Many delighted children came out to see Santa.  Santa collections went ahead outside Tesco and the Co-op supermarkets.

Thanks to Martyn Bell Motor Engineers of Barrow-Upon Humber donated a heavy-duty battery for the Sleigh.

We were able to cook and deliver 65 Christmas Day dinners to the elderly who were on their own on Christmas Day. The delivery rounds were arranged by Ted Treasure and the meal was supervised and cooked by Janet Knapton, her family and friends. John Leaning was in charge of obtaining the produce. Special thanks to the White Swan for cooking the turkey and to Pip Bennett and Tesco for their generous help. Also, to Trinity Methodist Church for allowing us to use their kitchen and for Barton people who donated generously during our collections.

Our friends at the Grimsby Charity “Not Home Alone at Christmas” donated 30 filled shoeboxes to us, which were delivered with some of our meals. They were also delivering Christmas Day meals to the elderly in Grimsby and Cleethorpes.
