Two Romanby Northallerton residents have been recognized by Hambleton District Council for outstanding service to the local community. Duncan and Jan Davison, who are both members of the Rotary Club of Northallerton, have received a Hambleton Heroes Award from Councillor Mark Robson, Leader of Hambleton District Council.
In his letter to the couple, Cllr Robson praised them for the tireless work they have undertaken during the pandemic to clear and maintain the footpath alongside Ainderby Road to the west of Northallerton (with one or two helpers). The path has proved to be a lifeline for walkers, joggers and cyclists taking daily exercise during lockdown. They have also been joint organisers of the creation of a Rotary Garden at the entrance to Hambleton District Council's headquarters at Stone Cross, Rotary Way, Northallerton. Additionally, they regularly pick litter around the streets and surrounding countryside to make the area more pleasant for the public.
Cllr Robson noted that the Davisons "had gone that extra mile to make a real difference to the lives of our residents during 2020". He added: "Over recent times the need for the community to pull together and support each other has never been more important, and it is heart-warming to hear what you and other members of the community have been doing to help this. I would like to personally thank you for your wonderful contribution and for the dedication shown by you in supporting others."
