Aireborough Rotary step up to renovate an ancient source of water

Between 1998 and 2000 Aireborough members provided the labour to renovate the fabric of the historic Guiseley Wells, an ancient source of water, which had suffered from both the passage of time and vandalism. The site was recently chosen by Leeds City Council as a memorable place for one of 15 ‘Take a seat’ benches adding a colourful dimension to the area. These aim commemorate the resilience of the people of Leeds during the Spring 2020 pandemic. Current members who had worked on the initial project attended the unveiling ceremony including Brian Hall, Bill Hudson and Patrick Glenn and took time to recall two late Past Presidents Brian Chappelow and Gerald Long who had also helped drive the original enterprise forward.
